 INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS

All students in grades 6 and above who have studied one or more years abroad must legalize their documents with the Ecuadorian Ministry of Education.  During the legalization process, they must submit copies of their report cards from abroad.

Requirements for legalizing grades and other documents:

Students must first have their grades certified (sellado) in the Ecuadorian consulate in the country where they studied.  They must then present this certificate and the following documents to the Departamento de Régimen Escolar of the Ecuadorian Ministry of Education:

  • Original Ecuadorian birth certificate or, if a foreigner, both the original and a copy of the passport
  • Original and legalized Certificados de Promoción for grades 6 and above
  • Original Certificado de Terminación de Primaria
  • A letter written to the Minister of Education, requesting that the ministry recognize the studies completed abroad as valid in Ecuador.
  • A letter provided by Colegio Menor indicating that the student is registered at the school

Colegio Menor recommends that you make a notarized copy of all the documents above before turning them into the Ministry of Education.  For additional information or to confirm the list of required documents, you may call the Ministry at 2295-300, 3961329 o 3961328.
