Open House
Every year, on the first weeks of the school year, parents are invited to the Elementary Open House. During this event we specify the content of our academic programs and we suggest guidelines to help your children in their social and academic development.
Math and Science Celebration
Our Math and Science Celebration offers parents the opportunity to know what their children are studying and to experiment the way they learn math and science. The students prepare interesting and fun activities to guide their parents in the learning process.
Globalizarte
During this cultural week called “Globalizarte” we try to encourage writing and reading in a celebration with Ecuadorian authors and artists. The activities vary, but usually we invite well know authors to share their experiences and talents with our students.
Literacy Celebration
Our Literacy Celebration allows students the opportunity to apply and polish their skills and at the same time have fun with special activities related to reading and writing. Writing workshops, social studies investigations, reading circles are prepared by our students to share with their parents.
Assemblies
Approximately once month Elementary school students have an assembly. Students present themes related to Ecuadorian history and civic issues. In this event not only we celebrate our culture but also we practice oral and presentations skills.
Academic Field Trips: We have several academic field trips during the school year to reinforce studied subjects. From year to year some of these trips may chance depending on the opportunities, but we have special annual trips which are……
- Maquipucuna: 5th graders make an annual 2 day trip to the Maquipucuna Ecological Reserve in the protected forest of Nanegalito. They study the wildlife of the cloudy forest as part of the ecosystems unit as well as the have a great time with their classmates.
- Historical Center: 4th graders make several visits to different important Ecuadorian cultural places like the wax museum, the house of Sucre, Manuela Sáenz and the Liberty Summit. They have the opportunity to emphasize the colonial period.
- Yunguilla: 3er graders visit the ecological reserve of Yunguilla, where they study the wildlife as well as the ecotourism, micro industry and the use of resources of this semi rural community.
Community Service: The Elementary School each year concentrates all their efforts helping the community of Yunguilla and particularly a small school called Miguel de Santiago. We maintain an exchange relationship between our communities. Our students visit the ecological reserve and in exchange we work helping to better the conditions of the school with didactic materials, reparations, etc. Additionally, each Christmas a group of students visit the school, the give a concert and share an interesting morning.
