 SPECIAL SERVICES

Colegio Menor offers academic, disciplinary and counseling support programs for students in Middle School. These systems require that students be active participants in solving their problems, while helping them understand their responsibilities within the community college.

PAS - Academic Support Program.
The Academic Support Program is designed to provide monitoring and assistance to students who need more direction and feedback on their academic performance at the Middle School. Although all students wish to succeed in their studies, the process is not always easy.  PAS offers a valuable guide to help the team of teachers and students and parents to recognize the strengths and weaknesses of students in the learning process. Along with the educational specialist, this team works to implement strategies that will support the students through their academic career at the Colegio Menor. The goal of PAS is to create motivated and independent students.

Community Points System
Colegio Menor San Francisco Quito believes it is important to be part of the learning community in which students learn from their mistakes. We hope that our students follow the guidelines of our Code of Honor and the rules and procedures for the Middle School and, therefore, enjoy the benefits of their positive choices.  The community point system is designed to protect the school environment and individual rights of all its members and at the same time, encourage students to reflect on offender behavior. We are here to support and encourage students to achieve their potential and develop to become successful people.

Counseling
The counselor provides all students a social and emotional support they may need at a specific moment or through a continuous process in the long term. Additionally, the advisor offers a special learning program called "Wholesome Life" which aims at teaching the facts of human sexuality and development in each student, self-esteem, self-understanding and self-control. Other topics covered in class are the dangers of substance abuse, how to cope with stress and the development of effective and satisfactory relationships with others.

Tutoring Program
The Tutor is designed to support all students at Colegio Minors, as well as to facilitate communication between school and home. Tutors have important roles in ensuring that each student receives all the assistance necessary to accomplish personal and academic standards that the school expects of its students. Teachers at Middle School serve as mentors to a parallel of their students and meet them in a time period known as the Community (TC). The groups meet every week during the year.
The tutor is a key contact for students in their care, keeps them informed of events and school news.
• He or she is the first person to whom parents and teachers come with questions, concerns and / or recognition of the students.
• The tutor's role is to guide advice and obtain constructive feedback. Tutors need to be strong and to invite their students to meet high standards and constantly reviewing with the group the expectations of Colegio Menor students.

VOS "Voices of Students"

Community service in middle school is directly linked to the middle school student council called VOS (Voices of Students).  Student representatives in VOS help plan and organize activities and fundraisers that support community service.  The objective of community service and VOS is to better the community by increased student responsibility and leadership.  Through close interaction with the benefactors of our community service, students learn to be advocates of empathy and justice.
